Parkland RCMP and Victim Services invite the public to join them at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre for a FREE Self Defence & Family Violence Seminar.
This seminar will teach you how to recognize domestic violence, resources that are available to help, and the role of police and the courts. Then spend the afternoon learning how to create a safety plan for your family, and essential physical self-defense techniques.
Constable Sarah Williams is the Domestic Violence Coordinator at Parkland RCMP, and is a karate black belt who has been teaching self-defense throughout her policing career. She strongly believes that the best protection is prevention, and that self-defense is an essential life skill for everyone.
The seminar is open to the public and is completely free. Beverages, breakfast, lunch, and personal swag bags are all included. Doors open at 9 a.m. with time to grab breakfast and make new connections. Program will begin at 10 a.m. and run though until 5 p.m. with one hour for lunch.
