Pool Extended Shutdown

Our annual fall Aquatics Complex shutdown allows the aquatics and maintenance teams to complete essential upkeep, including draining and deep cleaning the pools, preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, and piping, and detailed cleaning of the pool deck, waterslide, steam room, and change rooms.

This year, several major infrastructure projects are scheduled, which will require a longer-than-usual shutdown period. We plan to close the Aquatics Complex from approximately mid-August through mid-October (about 9 weeks). Final dates are still being confirmed, and we will share them with you as soon as they are available.

Planned major projects include:
• Replacement of Air Handling Unit #1 (AHU1)
• Replacement of aquatic circulation pumps
• Replacement of the facility’s main boiler system, which provides hot water throughout the building

These upgrades are significant investments in the long-term reliability, safety, and performance of our aquatic facilities. We appreciate your understanding and patience while this work is completed.

FAQs

What are the major projects?

We are undertaking three significant infrastructure upgrades: replacing Air Handling Unit #1 (AHU1), replacing the aquatic pumps, and replacing the facility’s main boiler system, which provides hot water throughout the building.

AHU1, which is the main heating, cooling and ventilation unit for the pool, is reaching the end of its expected service life; its replacement has been planned for 2026. The new unit will improve ventilation performance, reliability, and overall system efficiency.

At the same time, we will replace all the pumps connected to the aquatic centre, as well as the main boiler system that provides hot water throughout the facility. These upgrades will make the TLC more energy efficient, ensuring consistent, dependable heating, and will support the building’s operations for many years to come. We successfully secured grant funding for the boiler replacement, allowing us to complete it ahead of schedule at a significantly reduced cost.

When will the closure happen?

The Aquatics Complex is expected to close from approximately mid-August to mid-October, for about 9 weeks. Final dates are still being confirmed and will be shared as soon as possible.

These systems are approaching key replacement timelines and are critical to keeping the facility operating safely and efficiently.
