TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre -- It's your Centre!
Residents of the City of Spruce Grove, the Town of Stony Plain and Parkland County had an opportunity to shape an extraordinary legacy for their community. As a result, construction of the $28 million facility started March 21, 2001. The TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre is a dynamic space, full of energy and activity. It is a place where people of all ages can come to compete, learn, exercise, relax, meet and celebrate life. In a truly unique, made-in-the-region approach, residents of Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Parkland County determined the final design and components that are included in the Centre. Input for the TLC's final design was gathered through a series of public consultation meetings in October, 2000. Following those meetings, plebiscites were held in each municipality on December 13th, 2000 - Enough residents in all three communities voted yes for the project to proceed. On March 21, 2001 the ground breaking ceremony was held with local and provincial dignitaries attending to acknowledge such regional co-operation on a project of this magnitude. The Centre opened to the public on June 29, 2002 with over 30,000 people visiting the new facility during the long weekend. The Grand Opening of the facility was September 18, 2002.
Public Access to the Tri Leisure Centre
The TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre is open to the public during regular operational hours. The general public does not require an admission to enter into the spectator viewing areas (unless the event has an admission), the Grand Hall, or Food Service Areas.
Patrons are not required to pay admission if they are part of a group who have exclusive hourly or daily rent of space such as the pool, arenas, soccer fields, program rooms, field house or gymnasium.
